Most plants seen in cultivation under this name are in reality not true gracilius. True gracilius is not widespread in nature or cultivation as has been reported and is certainly not robust like its type rosulatum. It can be identified by its very narrow leaves, growth habit, and the faint red striped yellow flowers. As you can see from our photos of typical plants grown from seed, the growth habit tends to a low spreading type caudex.
