This is unquestionably the most attractive of the African mainland species. It will always be rare due to its slow growth rate but it does reward those with patience as a good size tightly grown plant is truly outstanding.

Back in the early 1980's when the demand for Pachypodiums was becoming intense and collectors were first discovering how truly interesting they are, this species was at the top of everyone's list. No one had any plants large enough to produce seed and small one inch seedlings were selling for $100 if you could find one!
