| Very seldom seen offered for
sale, this is the strange "zig-zag" tree from the spiny forest area in southern
Madagascar. Its unique form always generates comments. Related to the Didieria but much more difficult to propagate, it took us two years to get these good size cuttings rooted and well established. It couldn't be easier to grow however. Its growth habit is also strange. For two or three seasons, new growth is relatively fast but these shoots become pendant. Then out of the center of this will emerge a thicker stem which will go straight up and form the trunk of your new tree. Most plants is the Didiereaceae family exhibit this pattern. |
