| Meaning "twin
spined", this South African species develops a huge underground caudex. It is easily
distinguished from its relative Pachypodium succulentum by the bell shaped white and
purple flowers and semi-glabrous (hairless) leaves. It's quite easy to grow but a bit on
the slow side when compared with succulentum. It's important to keep excess branch growth trimmed back. This will greatly increase caudex growth and results in a more compact attractive looking plant. |
